Picking The Right Accummulator Bet

Like Tweet +1

The classic accumulator bet is a simple case of putting a couple of quid down and hoping all selections win in one single bet. This is probably the way to go if you’re backing the big Premier League teams in easy home fixtures at prohibitive odds. However, there are plenty of alternative options if the prices reflect a little more value and you want to avoid the frustration of picking 4 or 5 winners out of 6 selections. The following is a rundown of the popular accumulator bets and exactly how they work.

The Yankee/Canadian/Heinz Accumulator Bet!

The Yankee, Canadian, Heinz, Accumulator Bet.jpgThis is a very popular accumulator bet which takes in 4 selections and involves paying for 11 bets in total in which you pay a unit stake for each bet. The bets are as follows: one 4 selection accumulator, 4 trebles (to cover yourself in case one of the selections fail, you will therefore guarantee at least one three selection accumulator win) and 6 doubles to compensate for winning 2 out of 2: you will therefore be paid for one double. However, if all four selections are successful, you will win on ALL of the afore-mentioned combinations which can mean a substantial win return. If you want to have more selections there is the Canadian and Heinz options which can accommodate 5 and 6 selections respectively.

Lucky 15: The accumulator with a bonus or two!

The Lucky 15 option is very similar to the Yankee option although there are 15 bets compared to the Yankee’s 11. The extra four bets consist of four single bets which means that only one selection has to win in order to get a return. Additionally, a lot of bookmakers give various bonuses to returns on the Lucky 15. Here is a rundown of the current offers on the Lucky 15 bet.

Presently, bet365, Betfred and Skybet are offering the best incentives:

Betfred

Betfred offer Triple the odds on one winner. Very handy bonus if only one selection wins. However, there is no bonus for gaining all four wins.

Bet365

Bet365 is offering a great all round bonus scheme on Lucky 15’s. They will give double the odds on one winner and a 10% bonus on four successful selections.

Skybet

Skybet offer double the odds on one winner and a 10% bonus on 4 wins.

BetVictor, Ladbrokes, William Hill and Coral all offer 10% bonuses on 4 winners in a Lucky 15.

However, the shrewd punter needs to be mindful of the prices on offer. Shop around and make sure that you are getting the best odds available for your selections and not necessarily the best Lucky 15 promotional offer. This is especially crucial with horse racing whereby prices can vary and with significant differences between bookmakers.

Some key questions to consider…

When should I bet with Yankees/Lucky 15’s and when should I bet with singles?
This question always give me a conundrum every Saturday! Essentially, it’s down to a number of factors. It goes almost without saying that football accumulators go hand in hand with these multi-stake accumulators although if you are going for some unlikely results with big odds, the Lucky 15 will be the best option rather than the one stake accumulator where all must win. Single bets might be a better option on the big horse racing meetings such as The Cheltenham Festival or Royal Ascot due to the huge fields and big priced winners. It’s extremely challenging to pick multiple winners on these days although the each-way scenario, which is possible, is a viable option. Getting a Lucky 15 with three or four placed with big odds can be surprisingly lucrative!

How can I work out what I’ve won?
That’s easy! We have a fantastic accumulator calculator which works out exactly what you’ve won by simply entering your unit stakes.

I only want three selections. Is there an option for this?
Yes. You can have a Patent bet which consists of 7 bets including one treble, 3 doubles and 3 singles. The Trixie bet is the same but without the singles.

Is there an each way option on the Lucky 15 and Yankee bets?
Yes, although none of the bonuses apply unless the selections win.

Good luck with all future multiple accumulator bets and look out for latest offers on this site!
