Friday 14th March
13:30 JCB Triumph Hurdle
We’re going to go for value in this one, and we see it aplenty with Rutherglen. He may not be anywhere near the favourite category, but that just means you’ll find more value in his odds. The horse is a very impressive jumper, having won 100% of his hurdle races.
He is up against a lot of other decent horses, but if he has a good run anything could happen. Rutherglen is 14/1 with Boylesports, and we’d have him on an each-way bet.
14:40 Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle
We’re plumping for the second favourite (who started out first) in this Novices’ Hurdle event. Kings Palace is our tip for this race; the horse was victor by some distance in a Cheltenham trial in December, so we fancy his chances on Friday.
You’ll find the best-odds on Kings Palace with Stan James, who have the horse at 4/1 to romp home. Make it an each-way bet.
15:20 Betfred Cheltenham Gold Cup Chase
The Daddy of them all, the Gold Cup is the feature race on Friday. Defending champion Bobs Worth is the favourite for this one, and we’re inclined to go with him to win.
There isn’t much to his odds, but the best value can be found with Betfred, who have the reigning (pun-derful) champ at a very reasonable 7/4.
17:15 Johnny Henderson Grand Annual Chase Challenge Cup
The final race of the day (sad face), and we’re going for Next Sensation, he is a very tempting 8/1 with most bookies, including Ladbrokes. Given the competition that he has to fend off however, we’ll be plumping for an each way bet with this one. Just to be on the safe side.
