Wednesday 12th March
13:30 Neptune Investment Management Novices’ Hurdle
Wednesday kicks off with a tough call in the Novices’ Hurdle. Faugheen is the clear favourite at the bookies at 11/4 across a range of sites including Paddy Power, Stan James, and SkyBet.
But in our eyes, the younger, less-experienced horse Red Sherlock is a good each-way bet for this one. Faugheen may be a more experienced horse, but Red Sherlock is unbeaten in his first six races, something that should not be overlooked going into this one. The horse is 9/2 to win with Unibet.
14:05 RSA Chase
For this race, Ballycasey stand out for us. In another race with a multitude of horses competing, it could be hard to pick an outright winner, but we fancy this strong horse at 5/1 each-way with Ladbrokes. He is unbeaten in recent meetings, and has won five out of his first six races, placing third in the remaining one.
15:20 BetVictor Queen Mother Champion Chase
Sire De Gruger may be the favourite for this, but we’re looking a bit further down the order for this one at Sizing Europe and Wishfull Thinking. While they may not have enough to win, it’s worth putting one of them down for an each-way bet, especially at the odds they are. Wishfull thinking is the less-likely to place at 33/1 with Boylesports, so we will plump for Sizing Europe at 14/1 with Spreadex.
17:15 Weatherbys Champion Bumper
The Champion Bumper sees two W P Mullins owned horses at the top of the favourites list. Given he has provided the last two winners of this race, it seems wise to lay some money on one of them. We fancy Shaneshill each-way, which is 7/1 across a range of bookies, including super-Cheltenham-offer maker, William Hill.
