Welcome to Day 3 of Cheltenham Festival 2022!

St Patrick’s Thursday features two pulsating races in the form of The Ryanair Chase where Allaho hopes to defend his title at very short odds and a very open looking Stayers Hurdle!

We will provide you with details of the televised ITV racing schedule and anything you might need to know if you are heading for the track! Otherwise switch on the TV and enjoy! We will assess the five TV races and point you in the right direction for the best odds and offers from our partner firms.

GETTING THERE AND OTHER DETAILS

By Train and Bus

If you are coming in by train from Birmingham New Street, a queuing system will be in operation so as to stop dangerous congestion on the platforms due to the sheer volume of racegoers heading to The Festival. Allow plenty of time.

Shuttle buses at Cheltenham Spa will be available on the station forecourt.

Weather and Going

Official going will be Good to Soft (Soft in places) and weather is set to be sunny intervals with a gentle breeze. Somewhat better than yesterday!

Tickets & Getting In

Tickets are now sold out entirely for Days 3 and 4. Gates open at 1030am with first race at 1330.

Races Preview

1:30 CHELTENHAM Turners Novices' Chase

An embarrassingly small turnout of four for this mid distance Grade 1 championship but the mouth-watering dual between the Willie Mullins trained rising star Galopin Des Champs and Henry De Bromhead’s Bob Olinger, more than makes up for the lack of numbers.


Both won at the Festival last year over hurdles and both have responded well to their new chasing careers. Galopin Des Champs has a particular wow factor about him as demonstrated in his runs this year and we fancy him to collar Bob Olinger, but it should be close.

2:10 CHELTENHAM Pertemps Network Final Handicap Hurdle

Wide open competitive long distance handicap hurdle to muddle through! Plenty in with chances. Winter Fog has been well backed for this and looks to be on a winnable handicap mark. Winter Fog best odds 13/2 with Bet Victor.

2:50 CHELTENHAM THE RYANAIR CHASE

Very difficult to see this going anywhere but to the Willie Mullins superstar Allaho who hopes to regain his title. Those looking for each way value can find Melon, Conflated or Eldorado Allen as potential candidates.


We go for Allaho hands down! Best priced at 4/6 with William Hill, Bet Victor and Boylesports.

3:30 CHELTENHAM Paddy Power Stayers' Hurdle

Fascinating renewal of the stayers’ hurdle championship and one of the most open in recent years. The heroic Paisley Park will be hoping to regain his crown and has a great chance based on his brilliant defeat of race rival Champ in the Cleeve Hurdle over course and distance.


Last year’s winner Flooring Porter and the talented Thyme Hill share favouritism although we fancy the Willie Mullins trained and former Supreme Novices winner Klassical Dream to deliver the goods at 4/1 best with Bet365.

4:10 CHELTENHAM Craft Irish Whiskey Co. Plate Handicap Chase

Very competitive handicap chase. Imperial Alcazar has held most of the attention ante post wise for some time. Some very familiar Cheltenham handicap chase faces such as Coole Cody, Simply The Betts and Spiritofthegames also in the mix.

With the ground now riding on the heavier side of soft, we fancy the chances of Admirel who has been winning in this type of surface lately. 22/1 best with Bet365.
