Liverpool Vs Manchester United
Sunday 1st September 2013: 1:30pm
What a statement of intent it would be from either manager if they were to take all three points in this fixture. For Rodgers, the chance to get one over the old enemy while they are at their weakest point in years would go some way to boosting Liverpool's chances of gatecrashing the Top Four this season.
For Moyes a win at Anfield would be sweet, not only due to his Evertonian background but because the fans would instantly adore him for keeping the Scousers 'off their f*****g perch'.
Close, but not close enough
Moyes side have started strongly, and still look like the Champions of England. Liverpool will provide a sterner test than Swansea although less than a Mourinho-led Chelsea. A United win looks good, and can be found at 19/10 with Coral. A Liverpool win is best priced at 13/8 with Bet365, while the draw is 12/5 with BetVictor.
For our money, a tight 2-1 win for Manchester United looks very nice. Unibet are offering a generous 17/2 on this scoreline, and their £50 sign-up free bet is well worth taking advantage of.
Red Roo Redemption?
How the Liverpool fans hate Rooney. Once an Evertonian, now a United boy. Just like his new gaffer. Judging by how much he motivated he looked during the Chelsea game, a match at Anfield should have Rooney firing (or trying to fire) on all cylinders. Our shout is for the now seemingly-settled striker to grab a goal anytime. Ladbrokes will offer you 11/5 on that.
Betfred also have a great offer on for a Score/Win double with Robin Van Persie at 4/1. Given the Dutchman's lethal finishing ability, and Liverpool's defensive injury problems, this is well worth a try.
Arsenal Vs Spurs
Sunday 1st September 2013: 4pm
There's no other way to put it: Spurs have completely blown Arsenal out of the water in this summer's transfer window. For a Spurs side who have won four out of the last eight (compared to Arsenal's three) North London derbies, the new look squad might just be enough to do the double over Arsenal this year.
Whether it's enough to propel them into the Top Four remains to be seen though. Three points against their neighbours would continue their solid start, and maybe increase old Wenger's blood pressure.
Stalemate on the cards?
Arsenal, given their home advantage, are favourites for this one. Arsenal are best-priced at 23/20 with William Hill, while the Spurs win is 13/5 with SkyBet.
However, we like the look of a draw for this one. Home advantage should ensure the Gunners have a bit of a spring in their step, but Spurs will be looking to make their mark early on in the season. Paddy Power has the best odds on the draw, at 5/2. BetVictor's 14/1 on the 2-2 looks even better.
Goals galore
This fixture is notoriously high-scoring, especially in recent years. In the last eight league derbies there have been an average of 4.5 goals a game, so we think Coral's offer of 7/4 on over 3.5 goals might be a cracking bet.
For goalscorers, it's tempting to look at Theo Walcott. The Englishman has a habit of scoring in this fixture, with four goals in it so far to his name. He is 12/5 with SkyBet for Anytime Goalscorer.
Limited cards
With all the new boys knocking about in Spurs' dressing room, it might take a while for them to grasp the concept of how important this fixture is. For that reason, we don't think the game will be as feisty as it normally is, so William Hill's offer of under four cards at 11/5 looks promising.
