Welcome to Day 2 of Cheltenham Festival 2024! This should be known as Style Wednesday!
The feature race of the day is The Champion Chase. The race is essentially a repeat of last year’s exciting Arkle clash as El Fabiolo trained by Willie Mullins is taken on by the Nicky Henderson team in the form of Jonbon. We check out this major race of the week and preview the remaining four ITV televised races.

Getting to the course
If you’re lucky enough to be heading to Cheltenham for the live races, please be aware of the following travel information.
Road Closure
In order to try and alleviate some of the antisocial problems reported from previous Festivals, the Evesham Road which links the racecourse to the town, will be shut southbound from 4pm to 8pm after racing, to allow a wider route for pedestrians exiting the track.
There will be temporary toilets and stewards marshalling the route.
Coming in from Birmingham New Street Station
Birmingham New Street station will be running a staged queuing system for trains to the Festival so as to avoid passenger congestion on the platform. Please allow plenty of time to allow for delays here. Be aware of rails strikes on Thursday.

Race Previews and Selections
13.30 Cheltenham: The Gallagher Novices Hurdle
This second Grade One novice hurdle event of the week took a significant turn last week as Willie Mullins made his final decision regarding the destination of his novice hurdlers.
Ballyburn, having led the Supreme market for some time is not set to take his place in this race will take some beating by all accounts. Most pundits have agreed that wherever Ballyburn goes, he will win.
He has travelled well in all his races, jumps slickly and economically and will be very much suited by this trip. Extremely hard to oppose at 4/7 with William Hill, Bet Victor, Betfred and Boylesports. As mentioned in our Best Cheltenham Festival 2024 Bets preview, we think Predator’s Gold could run into a place at 9/1 with Bet365.
14.10 Cheltenham The Brown Advisory Novices Chase
Fascinating renewal of the novice stayer’s championship race. Fact To File has been regarded as a Cheltenham banker bet for this meeting for some time. He absolutely battered his rivals in a beginner chase at Leopardstown.
The JP McManus owned, and Mullins trained seven-year-old travelled very strongly, jumped well and looks the real deal. The Mullins team very much see him as a Gold Cup horse down the line.
However, he faces a very strong opponent in the shape of the Paul Nicholls trained Stay Away Fay who has far greater form on paper having won last year’s Albert Bartlett Novices Hurdle..
Experience could count a lot in this kind of race, and I think Fact to File may come unsung by the pressure that Stay Away Fay will pile on. Stay Away Fay to cause an upset here at 7/2 best with William Hill.
14.50 Cheltenham: The Coral Handicap Hurdle
One of the most challenging races of the week to solve for this huge field mid distance handicap hurdle.
Plenty in with decent claims although Built By Ballymore has been racing this season with this event very much in mind. He has been effective in Ireland, winning listed novice events and comes into this to run at a decent weight.
This race has always been successful for progressive novice hurdlers in the past. Our selection to win at 8/1 with William Hill, Bet Victor, Betfred and Boylesports.
15.30 Cheltenham: THE CHAMPION CHASE
The feature race of the day is also the match of the week.
El Fabiolo and Jonbon rekindle their dual from last year and although the Willie Mullins favourite is widely regarded as one of the best horses running this week, we think Jonbon will give him more to think about this year.
We select Jonbon at 100/30 best with Bet365, William Hill, Betfred and Boylesports. Check out our full race preview here.
16.10 Cheltenham: The Cross Country Chase
This year’s novelty race is packed with stars and even a previous Gold Cup winner. Galvin, Delta Work, and our selection Minella Indo (best odds 15/8 with Bet365 and William Hill) look set give racegoers a battle to savour.
