The curtain will be finally drawn on what has been an enthralling jumps season this Saturday with Bet365’s Jumps Finale meeting at Sandown. The feature race is The Bet 365 Gold Cup but there are plenty of other enticing races including The Bet365 Celebration Chase featuring Arkle runner-up Jonbon, Greaneteen and Editeur Du Gite.
We provide best bets and best odds from our partner firms, including the day’s main sponsors Bet365 along with William Hill, Bet Victor, Betfred and Boylesports. We preview all races covered by ITV Racing which televises five races across the card.
1305 Sandown: The bet365 Novices' Championship Final Handicap Hurdle
Very competitive handicap hurdle to kick off proceedings. The Paul Nicholls trained Killaloan looks a progressive type and having accumulated three wins on the bounce, he ups considerably in grade to compete in this but sure to improve.
Has been well backed in recent days. 6/1 best odds with William Hill, Betfred and Boylesports.
SELECTION: Killlaloan.
1340 Sandown: THE BET365 CELEBRATION CHASE
The final Grade 1 jumps race of the season sees the enigmatic Jonbon competing in senior company for the first time after his runner-up performance in the Arkle.
Greaneteen (7/4 Bet365), a course and distance winner having won last season’s Tingle Creek and Editeur Du Gite (5/1 Bet Victor, Betfred and Boylesports) are all major dangers if on top of their respective games. However., I think the JP McManus owned Henderson charge will have too much class and speed for these older horses.
SELECTION: Jonbon
1415 Sandown: THE BET365 GOLD CUP HANDICAP CHASE
Kitty’s Light (5/1 William Hill) fresh off a Scottish National win clearly needs to be considered, although I think this stamina test will come too quick after the Ayr victory.
Frodon always runs his heart out and looks good value at 12/1 (Betfred, Boylesports) but he needs to come down the weights to get serious consideration in a handicap now, and of course he is not getting any younger.
However, Annsam trained by Evan Williams gets the marginal nod after an impressive win at Ludlow recently. Best odds 10/1 with William Hill.
SELECTION: Annsam
1450 Sandown: The bet365 Oaksey Chase
Quite a few dual declarations for this race and The Celebration Chase which makes for a murky market indeed, at this time of writing.
Having said that, the Paul Nicholls trained Solo seems to have finally found a winning rhythm in the transition to fences, after an indifferent hurdling start to his career.
The horse came over from France with a lofty reputation. Currently 7/2 best with race sponsors bet365.
SELECTION: Solo
1525 Sandown: The bet365 Josh Gifford Novices' Handicap Chase
Competitive handicap chase to round off the ITV TV coverage.
All of these have some viable claims although two stand out. Hudson De Grugy trained by Gary Moore, has a course and distance win under his belt, having won at Sandown last time out.
It was an impressive staying performance considering he made a number of errors and fought back to the line after being headed.
Sure to go well and looks attractively priced at 6/1 with Boylesports.
Another interesting entry is Quinto Do Mar who also won last time out, winning a preparation handicap at Fontwell with something in hand.
However, the nods goes to Hudson De Grugy who looks the one to beat if he gets a clear round.
SELECTION: Hudson De Grugy
