After Clap for Carers comes the engaging equine sequel: Glam up for Gee Gees!
Despite the prestigious 5 day Royal Meeting being staged behind closed doors next week, the organisers of next week’s Royal Ascot are hoping those watching at home will put up the bunting, stock up the champagne and strawberries on ice and dress up in best frocks and suits.
Charity is also at the forefront of plans, as Ascot Racecourse will be hoping those that take part in the fun will take selfies and send their pics to social media whilst donating £5 to Ascot’s fund for frontline charities which includes NHS Charities Together and those affected by Covid 19.
But of course, the main feature is of course the racing and with over 35 races being staged, it looks set to also be a fantastic betting at home bonanza!
We have selected 5 value best bets for the week, mostly at decent odds to make up an each way multiple bet. Check out our guide for betting on accumulators!
Day One, Tuesday 16th June
MUSTASHRY: The Queen Anne Stakes, 1350 Ascot
Sir Michael Stoute’s reliable 7-year-old had a great season last year, winning the Lockinge Stakes at Newbury, beating the consistent Laurens by a couple of lengths.
Granted he didn’t shine in last year’s renewal of the Queen Anne Stakes but he looked as good as ever at Newmarket last October, beating Limato over the Rowley Mile.
Each way chances if he improves a little more.
12/1 Each Way with William Hill (plus Bet Boost), Bet365, Betfair, Bet Victor, Paddy Power.
Day Two. Wednesday 17th June
ALRIGHT SUNSHINE, The Copper Horse Handicap, 1640 Ascot
Trained by Keith Dalgleish, this 5-year-old is a consistent sort who has won 7 of his 12 starts.
The handicapper may have caught up with him but I expect this son of Rock of Gibraltar to put in a bold run at a decent price in this newly created race.
The jockey booking of Daniel Tudhope is also a plus: he has a fantastic record of placing at the Royal meeting.
14/1 Each Way with Bet365, William Hill, Betfair (paying 5 places) and Paddy Power (paying 5 places)
Day Three, Thursday 18th June
GLOBAL STORM, The Golden Gates Handicap, 1315 Ascot
Connections of this Godolphin owned 3 year old will be hoping he can step up after his Rowley Mile win at Newmarket last weekend.
Open to plenty of improvement, Global Storm seems to really appreciate the extended 1-mile trip and should see it out to earn a place at a decent price.
12/1 Each Way with Betfair and Paddy Power
Day Four, Friday 18th June
WOODED, The Commonwealth Cup, 1535 Ascot
This French raider really impressed at Chantilly in his prep race, The Prix Texanita last month and he will surely come on for that run.
He looks to be a sprinter that demands a lot of respect and the French will be buoyed by the head start they have by their earlier resumption of racing since lockdown.
Great each way value bet.
10/1 Each Way with William Hill.
Day Five, Saturday 19th June
SCEPTICAL, The Diamond Jubilee Stakes, 1535 Ascot
This Irish trained sprinter star in the making was originally entered for the Tuesday's King's Stand Stakes.
However, trainer Denis Hogan has decided to avoid a clash with Battaash and settles for the Diamond Jubilee Stakes on the Saturday.
There is plenty to like about this horse and he should take all the beating for this valuable sprint event at decent odds.
4/1 WIN with William Hill.
